straght staircases are most common, inside and outside many locations. They will have flight of consecutive steps that would go from the first step to the next floor with no turn. They differ many times with the dimmensions, and sometimes height would need to be factored in , being a ceiling is low enough to cause change in techniques to bringing a piano up them. Many times it would be a grand or large full size upright
The picture shown to the left, is what we would call a 180 degree turn being that it has landing and makes a full turn to complete the staircase. Many staircases are different diameters just like a piano . However knowing what the stairs looks like is a great start.
This is a picture of what we would refer to a 90 degree run. This staircase has 3 90 degree runs per floor / staircase. They will consist of a small square landing and then an immediate left or right hand turn onto the next part of the stairs. In these we will find many different dimensions regarding the size of the landing , height over steps and so forth
These will be found on many interior staircases in Brownstone style houses, among others. The key feature , regarding moving, is the small triangular steps to form the turn.. For these turns , they tend to be a higher degree of difficulty, being that piano can not rest on steps , for it will have no symmetrical platform to rest on. They usually need to be carried in the air to maneuver. Depending on the depth of stairwell , from railing to outside wall, factors into the degree of difficulty.
